Ithaca Cracks D3football.com Top 25 Poll for First Time Since 2015

More news about: Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – For the first time since Week 4 of the 2015 season, the Ithaca College football program is nationally ranked in the most recent D3football.com Top 25 Poll, which was released on Sunday evening. In the current Week 3 poll, Ithaca was slotted at No. 25 in the country heading into its matchup with St. John Fisher on Saturday in Pittsford, N.Y.

In 2015, the Bombers got off to a 3-0 start to the year. IC first appeared in the poll during the second week of the season at No. 24 and then moved up to 20th after a win over Hobart. The Bombers then topped Alfred the following week to move up to 19th in Division III.

In similar fashion, Ithaca took down Alfred this past Saturday, 21-13, behind a 21-point second half to vault back into the national poll. Although the Bombers are 2-1 this season, their lone loss came by way of a 13-7 decision to then-No. 5 The College at Brockport during Week 2. Brockport is 3-0 this season with its other two victories coming by an average of 51 points (56-7 and 65-12).

This weekend, IC travels to a familiar opponent in former Empire 8 Conference rival, St. John Fisher. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. at Growney Stadium. The showdown will mark the 21st all-time meeting between the two schools, with the series tied at 10 wins apiece.
