Union Runs Away from Curry in 49-6 Win

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – A balanced attack by the Union College Football team resulted in lopsided 49-6 win over Curry College on Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
 
The Dutchmen improve to 4-0 having completed nonconference play. The Colonels drop to 2-2 on the season with the loss.
 
Union totaled 455 yards of offense in the win over the Colonels, which was three yards shy of setting a new program record for most offense in a single game.

How It Happened
Union opened the scoring on its first drive of the game, using six plays to go 52 yards. Ike Irabor scored his first of the day with a 27-yard run.
 
On the very next drive for the Dutchmen, Will Bellamy hit Griffin Beal for a 23-yard touchdown pass to put Union up 14-0 just six seconds into the second quarter.
 
Austin St. Pierre then intercepted the ball on Curry's ensuing drive, setting Union up for a 37-yard drive that was capped off by a three-yard pass to Pat Ryan for the touchdown.
 
The Dutchmen scored a third touchdown of the quarter to take a 28-0 lead into the half. Union drove 62 yards, as Irabor punched in a one-yard rush for the final TD of the half.
 
Union's defense then got on the board when Colin Lama recovered a fumble at the Curry five-yard line to put the Dutchmen up 35-0.
 
Irabor capped off his day with a game-high 57-yard rush for his third touchdown of the game just five minutes into the third quarter.
 
Curry erased its goose egg off the scoreboard in the third quarter, after QB Nick Juvelier threw a 47-yard pass to Mike DelGais, but Union managed to block the extra point to keep the Colonels at six.
 
Union's final touchdown of the game came after Bellamy connected with Andre Ross Jr. for a 21-yard touchdown.
 
Up Next for the Dutchmen
Union heads into a bye-week for the Sept. 29 weekend. The Dutchmen return to the field on Oct. 6 to begin league play at Hobart.
