ITHACA, N.Y. – On Monday evening, five members of the Ithaca College football program were named All-East Region by D3football.com. Senior Pat Minogue was a first-team selection as a safety, while junior wide receiver Will Gladney and senior cornerback Jovonte Long received second-team selections. Senior offensive lineman Bobby Puckey and defensive tackle Brien Pacholec rounded out the voting as third-team honorees.
Minogue picks up all-region honors after being named Liberty League First-Team All-Conference and Defensive Player of the Year, contributing on both defense and special teams throughout the season.
While assisting one of the top defenses in the country, Minogue logged a team-high 85 tackles in 11 games during his senior campaign, 10.5 of which for a loss. He broke up nine passes and logged two interceptions on the year while also registering a defensive touchdown in the season opener against St. Vincent on Sept. 1.
On special teams, Minogue landed on the D3football.com Team of the Week twice. Once as a punter after the thord week of the season, and again as a special teams performer against Cortland. Against Alfred on Sept. 15, Minogue recorded four punts for an average of 51.0 yards, including one for 65 yards. In the 60th Cortaca Jug game, Minogue blocked two punts.
Gladney, a standout receiver for the Bombers, earned his second all-region nod from D3football.com. Last season, he was a first-teamer as a wide receiver while also being named a Preseason First-Team All-American by D3football.com.
With 68 receptions and 870 yards on the year, Gladney broke Ithaca's all-time receptions and yards mark with a total of 173 catches and 2,412 yards in only three seasons on South Hill. Gladney posted three 100-plus yard games this season, including a career-best 236 yards on 14 catches against Utica on Nov. 17. In that contest, he tied the program mark for career touchdown catches with 22.
Long, a standout cornerback for the Bombers throughout his career, earned his first all-region selection from D3football.com.This season, Long, a first-team honoree in the Liberty League, recorded a total of 33 tackles while also registering four pass break-ups and snatching two interceptions. His performance helped an Ithaca defense average less than 260 yards and 13 points allowed per game.
Puckey, a Liberty League First-Team All-Conference and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, earned his first spot on D3football.com's all-region team as an offensive lineman. While assisting the offense as both guard and center during his senior campaign, Puckey supported an offensive line that averaged over 350 yards and nearly 23 points per game.
Pacholec concluded Ithaca's All-East Region selections as a third-team defensive tackle. He was also named to the Liberty League First-Team All-Conference and All-Academic Teams. This is Pacholec's first all-region selection as he logged a total of 39 tackles and a team-high five sacks this year.
Ithaca finished the 2018 season with an 8-3 record, its second-straight eight-win season and co-Liberty League championship. This season also featured a 24-21 victory over Cortland in the 60th Cortaca Jug Game for the second consecutive year.
