Sewanee head football coach Andy McCollum has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately.

McCollum posted an 8-22 record over three seasons with the Tigers, including a 28-0 loss this past Saturday against Centre College. Sewanee has lost 5-of-6 games since a 2-1 start and dropped all five home contests this year.

The Tigers registered a 3-7 mark in McCollum's first season — the program's most wins since 2018 — and ended a 23-game conference losing streak. Sewanee finished 2–8 in 2024.

McCollum arrived at Sewanee in February 2023 with more than 40 years of coaching experience. This was his first role at the NCAA Division III level.

"Coach McCollum brought a wealth of experience and a deep passion for developing young men through the game of football," athletic director John Shackelford says. "We are grateful for his leadership and the dedication he and his staff have shown to our student-athletes. As we look ahead, we remain committed to building a program that reflects Sewanee's values of excellence, integrity, and perseverance on and off the field."

Offensive coordinator Tracy Malone will serve as interim head coach for the season finale this Saturday at Millsaps. Malone has more than 27 years of coaching experience in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee, including 11 seasons as a high school head coach.

A national search will begin immediately for the University of the South's 33rd head football coach.
