Today's Contest
Today is the fifth game of the 2023 season, the fourth of six home contests and the fourth Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts Marietta College on Homecoming. BW won its first road game of the season as it defeated Ohio Northern University by a final score of 31-21 in Ada.  Marietta picked up its second won of the season and first OAC win with a 50-0 defeat of Otterbein University in Marietta.

The Series
BW and Marietta are meeting for 46th time on the gridiron. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series by a margin of 38-7. BW has won 14 of the last 16 meetings.  The last Pioneer victory came in the 2021 OAC spring shortened season as the Pioneers won by a final score of 30-20. The series began in 1974 with the Yellow Jackets defeating the Pioneers, 73-0, in Berea

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his seventh  season at BW and has a record of  38-18 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 32-16. He is 105-44 in his 15th overall season.   Hilvert is 3-2 all-time  against Ohio Northern.

Marietta Head Coach Andy Waddle 
Waddle is in his 11th  season at Marietta and has a record of 41-57 overall and 35-53 mark in the OAC.  He is 2-8 vs. Baldwin Wallace   

Last Game vs. Marietta -- October 1,  2022
BW scored 33 points on 305 yards passing and 85 yards rushing for 390  total yards.  Marietta  scored 29 points on 249  yards passing and 79 yards passing for 328 total yards. 

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week four of the season, BW scored 31 points on 254 yards rushing and 132  yards passing for 386 total yards.  Ohio Northern scored 21 points on 203 yards passing and 163 yards rushing for 366 total yards. 

BW Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) has completed 67-of-114 passes for an OAC fourth best 802 yards with nine touchdowns. Junior  running back Victor Ford, Jr. (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) leads the ground game with an OAC second best 331 yards on 51 carries with an OAC fourth tying three touchdowns.  Senior wide receiver Darius Stokes (Canton/GlenOak) leads the receiving unit with 15 catches for 168 yards with one touchdown. Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla./South Walton) leads the team and is tied for fifth in the OAC with 36 tackles.

Scouting the Pioneers
In week three of the season, Marietta scored 50 points on 295  yards rushing and 214 yards passing for 509 total yards.  Otterbein was held scoreless on 270 yards passing and 40 yards rushing for 310 total yards.

Marietta Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Connor Viestra has completed 44-of-66 passes for 581 yards with three touchdowns.  Senior All-OAC running back Bryce Agnew has rushed for 265 yards on 55 carries with an OAC fourth tying three touchdowns. Junior All-OAC wide receiver Dawson Snyder is tied for third in the OAC with 17 receptions and is 10th with 203 yards and is tied for fourth with three touchdowns.  Defensively, sophomore linebacker Harley Hopkins tops the team with 26 tackles and three quarterback sacks.

Kicking to Weekly Honor
Freshman Joseph Evans (Chardon) is the OAC's Special Team Player of the Week.  Evans her his first career honor for going a perfect 4-of-4 in extra point attempts, hitting a career-long 28-yard field goal, and punting five times for yards with a long of 177 for an average of 35.4 with a long of 47 yards and two punts inside the 20-yard line in BW's win last Saturday over Ohio Northern.
