WACO, Texas - Senior linebacker Jalen Todd of the Washington and Lee University football team was honored by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) as he was named a First Team All-American, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Todd's All-America nod marks the seventh honor from the organization for the program and the first since Max Garrett '18 earned second team laurels in 2017. Todd is the first player to earn First Team honors from the AFCA since Michael LaSala '17 earned the distinction in 2015.
Todd adds yet another award to his resume after an impressive senior campaign. In addition to his tackles, Todd recorded 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and one quarterback hurry. He posted a career-high 22 tackles in the Generals' win over Guilford, tying the most tackles in a single game this season in Division III. Todd was also named the ODAC's Defensive Player of the Week twice and was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Oct. 22.
Todd concluded his career with the Blue and White with 297 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He also broke up four passes during his career while forcing three fumbles and recovering two.
