Tyrone Wilson caught four touchdown passes, the last of them in overtime, as Augsburg handed St. Olaf its first loss of the season, 35-34. With the game tied the entire fourth quarter, Augsburg missed a 22-yard and a 33-yard field goal and St. Olaf threw an interception and fumbled the ball away, pushing the teams to an extra session. From there, Ryan Harvey faced a fourth-and-10 for Augsburg at the original 25-yard line before finding Wilson on the right side in the back of the end zone. He came down with the catch and Nathan Wangensteen kicked the extra point to put his Auggies (3-4) up 35-28. St. Olaf answered immediately, as Theo Doran hit Braden Menz for a 25-yard score on the first play of St. Olaf's overtime possession, but the Oles' two-point conversion pass sailed too far out of bounds and St. Olaf fell to 6-1. Wilson had eight catches for 113 yards and four touchdowns, while Harvey went 24-for-43 passing for five scores and was only picked off once. '
Case Western Reserve rolled up a 6-0 mark to open the season and wasn't even challenged in running their way through the bottom six teams in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, but the Spartans found their first challenge of the season to be too strong of one, as Westminster (Pa.) held on to defeat Case 17-14. Case had a drive fizzle just over midfield as Alex Fromberg threw four consecutive incomplete passes -- two of them broken up -- and the Spartans turned the ball over on downs with 5:35 remaining. The Titans (6-1) got one first down and puted it away, pinning Case back at its own 10, but Fromberg completed a flurry of passes and got into the red zone at the Westminster 17. With second down and only 19 seconds left, Fromberg threw left and freshman Austin Lamont stepped in front of the pass and returned it 71 yards before going down just before time expired. Wesminster kneeled it out for the win, handing Case (6-1) its first loss of the year.
Connor Vierstra threw for 363 yards and four touchdowns and the Marietta defense held Baldwin Wallace to 192 yards of total offense as the Pioneers remained undefeated, rolling past the Yellow Jackets 47-7. BW managed just 98 yards passing on the afternoon and Marietta picked off BW quarterbacks three times, had 10 tackles for loss and three sacks in the win. The Pioneers are 7-0 and close the regular season home to Wilmington, then at Mount Union and John Carroll.
Greg Casimir connected on field goals of 50, 31, 45 and 52 yards as Montclair State made it look easy against William Paterson in a 39-6 win. Aidan McLaughlin ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in the win, one in which the Red Hawks registered five sacks and held WPU to 92 yards of total offense. Montclair snapped a three-game skid and improved to 3-4 heading into next week's Breakfast Bowl game with NJAC rival Rowan.
Berry turned the ball over five times, including in overtime, and Trinity (Texas) kicked a field goal in the extra session as the Tigers outlasted Berry 38-35. Tyler Huettel was sent out to attempt a 57-yard field goal at the end of regulation, which had the distance but was no good, wide left, but he made up for it with his 33-yarder to win the game. Brandon Cade racked up 234 yards and four touchdowns on 30 carries for Berry, but five turnovers was more than enough to make the difference. Trinity improved to 5-2, 3-1 in the Southern Athletic Association, but Trinity and Berry each remain one game back of Centre in the SAA standings. Centre won at Southwestern 38-28 and plays at Berry next week.
E.J. Taylor ran for 140 yards and two touchdowns and Hobart shut Union out for the first time since 1975 as the Statesmen improved to 7-1, 4-0 in the Liberty League with a 27-0 win. Hobart remains in first place all alone in the conference, a game ahead of Ithaca, who Hobart already holds a head-to-head advantage over, and a game and a half ahead of Rochester, the Statesmen's Week 11 opponent. Rochester shut out St. Lawrence on Saturday by a 21-0 score.
Joshua Gasca went 17-for-20 passing and threw for seven touchdows as Lake Forest remained atop the Midwest Conference with a 66-0 pounding of Ripon. Tommy Carberry caught three TDs and A.J. Jackson and Tee Land had two apiece for the Foresters, who improved to 7-0, 6-0 in conference play. Ripon was held to just 96 yards of total offense.
Ben Butler intercepted three passes, all of them in the fourth quarter, to help North Park hold on and defeat Illinois Wesleyan 28-24. The win lifts the Vikings to 5-2 and leaves them one game short of their first winning record in more than half a century. Senior linebackers Jaydin Miller and Egan Bender combined for 19 tackles holding down the middle of the Viking front seven.
Colton Bosselait threw three touchdown passes -- two to Sergio Beltran -- and Bates knocked off Middlebury 21-20, the first win for the Bobcats over the Panthers since 1988. It's the second win this season for Bates, and both of them have come over the team at the top of the NESCAC after Bates beat Wesleyan back in September. Bates (2-5) trailed Middlebury (5-2) 20-14 with 8:58 left in regulation. On second down from the Bates 30, Bosselait connected with sophomore Ryan Gleason down the seam for a 39-yard gain, moving the ball to the Middlebury 31. Another pass to Gleason gained nine yards to the 22. Ryan Lynskey ripped off a run of seven yards to the Middlebury 15. On third and nine from the Panther 14, Bosselait hit Beltran at the 10-yard line on the near side. The slotback did the rest, shaking his defender and sprinting to the end zone. Beltran dove in and the Bobcats led 21-20 with 3:36 remaining. Middlebury had a 41-yard field goal attempt fall short with 1:14 left in the game after the Panthers' kicker lost his footing.
Brett Nabb threw for 142 yards and ran for 131 as Eastern came away with what it calls "its finest win in program history" as the Eages won at home against Stevenson, 24-14. Up 17-14 just before the two-minute warning, the Eagles lined up to attempt a 49-yard field goal. Nabb, the holder, took the snap, spun away from pressure, and scampered for 11 yards for the first down. Two plays later, he took it up the gut from 20 yards out for his second touchdown to give the Eagles (3-4, 3-3 MAC) a two-score advantage and essentially seal the win. Eastern held the Mustangs (4-3, 4-2) to 99 yards on 31 carries and forced four turnovers. Gashawn Moody and Jason Bateman forced fumbles and Ronald Jones and Dru Beckford grabbed interceptions to end Mustang drives.
Russell Minor-Shaw put on a stellar performance, and Amir Gibson's late interception sealed the win as King's remained unbeaten in conference play with a 42-35 win at FDU-Florham. With the win in the Middle Atlantic Conference matchup, the Monarchs improve to 6-1, 6-0 in MAC play, while FDU falls to 5-2, 4-2. The Devils drove 12 plays and 53 yards across 4:16 late in the fourth quarter, but the FDU-Florham pass was intercepted by Amir Gibson in the end zone. The Monarchs knelt down the final 1:15 and secured the 42-35 MAC win.
Dante Casciola threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, and the Yellow Jacket defense returned a pair of interceptions for scores, as Randolph-Macon posted a 49-16 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over Bridgewater.
