    The heroism of SUNY Cortland senior Kyle Richard has been recognized by yet another national organization. Richard, who was shot twice after breaking up a sexual assault in progress during the summer of 2017 and returned to captain Cortland's football team the past two seasons, was nominated for the Capital One Orange Bowl-Football Writers Association of America Courage Award on Nov. 15.

    Passing its first postseason test with flying colors, the North Central College football team encountered little resistance at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Saturday as it hammered Hanover College (Indiana), 52-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
  • Ithaca Drops Heartbreaker to Utica in the ECAC Scotty Whitelaw Bowl, 44-42

    ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College football team suffered a heartbreaking shootout loss to Utica College, 44-42, in the ECAC Scotty Whitelaw Bowl on Saturday afternoon at Cornell’s Schoellkopf Field. Utica connected on a 36-yard field goal with under a minute left in regulation to take the lead and an interception on IC’s final possession sealed the win.

    The Bridgewater College football team clinched its first winning season since 2014, wrapping up the 2018 campaign with a 21-14 home victory over North Carolina Wesleyan.
  • Rensselaer Defeats Husson, 38-14, to Advance

    TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) offense compiled 446 yards, while the defense held Husson University to 48 yards rushing and scored a touchdown of its own as the Engineers defeated the Eagles, 38-14, in an NCAA Playoffs First Round contest at East Campus Stadium. No. 23 RPI improves to 9-1 and advances to play No. 4 The College of Brockport on November 24. Husson finishes the season at 8-3.
  • Saxons Shut Down Salisbury on the Road; Win ECAC Asa S. Bushnell Bowl

    The Alfred University football team (7-4, Empire 8 4-3) won the 2018 Asa S. Bushnell Bowl over Salisbury 14-7 on the road on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Nas Smith (Auburn, NY/Auburn) scored his third rushing touchdown from 60 yards or more in the last two games.

  • Springfield College Claims New England Bowl Title Over Maritime, 17-14

    The Springfield College football team prevailed in their first-ever New England Bowl as they bested Maritime, 17-14, on Stagg Field on Saturday afternoon.  Playing in the postseason for the second-straight season, Springfield closed out the 2018 campaign with an 8-3 record.  In the last two years, the Pride has combined to win 18 games, marking the best two-year stretch since the 2003-04 teams won 18 games as well. The Privateers made their second-consecutive appearance in the New England Bowl and finished the year with a 7-4 record.
  • R-MC Football Earns First NCAA Tourney Win in 23-20 Victory at JCU

    Senior Tre Frederick (Angier, N.C./West Johnston) rushed for 101 yards and the Randolph-Macon football team held the ball for more than 44 minutes as the Yellow Jackets registered their first NCAA Tournament victory in a 23-20 win at No. 8 John Carroll Saturday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Championship at Don Shula Stadium.

    BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The No. 3 College at Brockport football team defeated Framingham State 40-27 Saturday, in the first round of 2018 NCAA Division III Football Championship Playoffs. The Golden Eagles improve to 11-0 this season and advance to the Sweet 16 round of the Championship.

    The No. 5 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team scored 35 points in the second quarter Saturday afternoon to take control in a 67-14 victory over Eureka (Ill.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship at Perkins Stadium.
