ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Albion running back Clinton Orr, Hope defensive back Santino DiCesare and Albion placekicker Nick Pendell its Players of the Week in football for games played November 12.
Offensive Player of the Week
Orr, a junior from Buchanan (Buchanan HS), clinched his second straight MIAA rushing title with 200 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown as the Britons defeated Trine, 41-14, to clinch an outright MIAA championship. Orr added 15 yards on two receptions. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time this season and eighth time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
DiCesare, a sophomore from Dorr (Wayland HS), tied an MIAA record with a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in Hope’s 27-7 win over Olivet. It was the third 100-yard interception return in conference history. DiCesare, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career, also made eight tackles, five of them solo stops.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Pendell, a freshman from Ithaca (Ithaca HS), kicked field goals of 35 and 26 yards and was perfect on five extra point attempts in Albion’s win over Trine. Pendell is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season.
