NAPERVILLE, Ill. – North Central’s Alex Haan, along with Millikin’s Jacob Alvis and Mike Blakely were named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Football Players of the Week Monday.
Haan, a senior tight end from Homer Glen, Ill., and Chicago Christian (Management major), finished with three catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns during the Cardinals’ 33-7 victory over Wheaton on Saturday. Haan caught an 86-yard touchdown pass, which was the third-longest passing play in school history, during his first collegiate start against the Thunder.
Alvis, a sophomore linebacker from Mt. Vernon, Ill., and Mt. Vernon High School (Biology major), tallied 18 tackles, including 10 solo stops, during Millikin’s 33-21 victory over North Park on Saturday.
Blakely, a sophomore wide receiver/kick returner from Hazelwood, Mo., and Hazelwood West High School (Physics major), returned three kicks for 141 yards for an average of 47 yards during the Big Blue’s win over North Park. He helped set the tone for the Big Blue by returning the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
