Guilford Adds Six to Roster for 2012

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College head football coach Chris Rusiewicz announced the intention of six more incoming students to play football for the Quakers Wednesday. The students have made their deposits to the college and will enroll for classes beginning in August. They raised Rusiewicz's second recruiting class at Guilford to 42 students.

Taylor Knox (Raleigh, N.C.) lettered four years at Wake Christian Academy under coach Randy Johnson. The 5-10, 170-pound running back/linebacker earned All-Big East Independent Football Conference recognition and captained the team as a senior. He also returned kicks for the Bulldogs and was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2010 and 2011. Knox looks to major in business management at Guilford.

Troy Philpott (Salem, Va.) lettered three years at Glenvar High School under coach Kevin Clifford. The 5-9, 195-pound offensive lineman/linebacker helped the Highlanders to the 2011 Virginia High School League playoffs. Philpott intends to study accounting at Guilford.

Ramce Rojas (Greensboro, N.C.) played four seasons at Ben L. Smith High School for coach Rodney Brewington. He will graduate from the Academy at Smith next month. The 6-1, 310-pound lineman was part of the Golden Eagles' 2010 Metro 4-A Conference champions that went 10-2 and reached the state playoffs.

Jakob Sayer (Franklin, N.C.) lettered for coach Josh Brooks at Franklin High School and played on the Panthers' 2011 team that reached the state 3-A quarterfinals. A 6-1, 190-pound two-way lineman, Sayer earned All-Western North Carolina Athletic Conference (WNCAC) recognition while helping Franklin to the 2011 WNCAC title. He was also an all-conference wrestler for the Panthers and intends to study physics at Guilford.

Josh Schow (Herndon, Va.) comes to Guilford after earning three letters for coach Joe Schaeffer at Herndon High School. The 5-9, 180-pound running back rushed for 1,074 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. He also lettered four times with the Hornets' track and field team and was part of the school's record-setting 4x100 relay team. He looks to study environmental science at Guilford.

Marcus Williams (Cary, N.C.) started three seasons at Green Hope High School for coach Kwame Dixon. The 6-0, 215-pound linebacker made 150 tackles in his career and scored 12 touchdowns as a running back. Williams was also a three-year letter winner for the Falcons' lacrosse team, an Eagle Scout and graduate of the Cary Youth Leadership Program. He plans to study business management at Guilford.

The Quakers open the 2012 season Sept. 1 against cross-town rival Greensboro College.
