ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Albion running back Darrin Williams, Olivet safety Ryheem Bonivel and Adrian punter/placekicker Dustin Salliotte its Players of the Week in football for games played through Oct. 20.
Offensive Player of the Week
Williams, a senior from Detroit (Martin Luther King HS), earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week with 249 yards of all-purpose offense in the Britons’ 24-3 road win at Alma. He rushed for 173 yards on 27 carries, scoring on runs of four and six yards, and caught four passes for 76 yards. Williams is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Bonivel, a freshman from Caledonia (East Kentwood HS), made seven tackles, including four tackles for loss, and added two sacks and a forced fumble in the Comets’ 28-8 loss to Adrian. He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Salliotte, a junior from Brownstown (Woodhaven HS), punted five times for a 38.4-yard average, including a long punt of 55 yards, and placed two punts inside the Olivet 20-yard-line in the Bulldogs’ 28-8 win over the Comets. He also converted all four of his extra-point attempts. Salliotte is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and in his career.
