Adrian’s Hemm, Juntunen, Trine’s Hence Named MIAA Players of the Week in Football
ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Adrian wide receiver Justin Hemm, Adrian linebacker Hunter Juntunen and Trine return specialist/wide receiver JaVontae Hence its Players of the Week in football for games played through Oct. 20.
Offensive Player of the Week
Hemm, a senior from Piqua, Ohio (Piqua HS), caught five passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns in Adrian’s 38-7 romp over Kalamazoo. He caught TD passes of 81 and 43 yards in the game’s first eight minutes, and later added a 6-yard scoring grab. Hemm is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time this season and fourth time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Juntunen, a junior from Webberville (Webberville HS), made 13 tackles, including 10 solo stops, in the Bulldogs’ win over Kalamazoo. He also forced a fumble that Adrian recovered, broke up a pass and had a tackle for loss. Juntunen is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Hence, a senior from Elkhart, Ind. (Concord HS), accounted for 304 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Trine’s 45-28 road win over Hope. He returned two kickoffs for 129 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown, and caught nine passes for 175 yards, including an MIAA-record tying 93-yard touchdown catch that broke the game open in the third quarter. Hence is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and fifth time in his career.
