HCAC Players of the Week

 

The following athletes were named players of the week in their respective sports for the week ending November 4, 2012.

Football: Offense – Aaron Abbott, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

 

Rose-Hulman receiver Aaron Abbott (Lebanon, Ohio/H.S.) tied a school record with four touchdown receptions in RHIT’s 42-8 win over Anderson Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on offense for the second time.  The freshman gained 166 yards on 10 catches to lead the Rose offense in the win, scoring touchdowns of 14, 27, 42, and 20 yards.  Rose-Hulman (4-5, 4-3 HCAC) will close the season at home against Earlham Saturday.

 

Football: Defense – Jake Butler, Manchester University

Manchester University defensive back Jake Butler (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph’s) grabbed back-to-back interceptions in the fourth quarter to help preserve a 35-34 win over previous league unbeaten Hanover Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Weekon defense.  The senior hauled in interceptions on Hanover’s final two drives and added five tackles in the win.  Manchester (5-4, 5-2 HCAC) will close the season against rival Anderson Saturday.

Football: Special Teams – Craig Larew, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

 

Rose-Hulman’s Craig Larew (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) was perfect on his extra points in a 42-8 win over Anderson and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on special teams.  The freshman kicker converted all six of his extra points and also booted a kickoff for a touchback in the victory.  Larew averaged 56.2 yards per kickoff on six attempts against the Ravens.  Rose-Hulman (4-5, 4-3 HCAC) will close the season at home against Earlham Saturday.
