WASHINGTON - After having last week off, CUA returns to action on Saturday afternoon when the Cardinals open ODAC play vs. Hampden-Sydney.  CUA is looking to snap a two-game losing streak, which includes a 35-17 setback at Carnegie Mellon two weeks ago.  The Cardinals trailed the Tartans by only four midway through the second quarter, before CMU scored 21 straight to pull away. 

Hampden-Sydney meanwhile, suffered its first loss of the season last weekend, falling to Huntingdon College 24-21 at home.  The Tigers led 21-17 late in the game before Tyler Robinson hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass to give the Hawks a three-point win.

CUA meets Hampden-Sydney for the 22nd time this weekend with the Tigers leading the series 12-9.  The Cardinals have not beaten HSC since earning a 33-21 win in 2008.

Junior Mike Pitsenberger rushed for 127 yards on only 13 carries two weeks ago at Carnegie Mellon.  The Maryland native averaged 9.8 yards per carry and his 127 total yards were his most since rushing for 186 vs. Hampden-Sydney on October 2, 2010.

In just three games, the CUA defense has totaled 17 tackles for loss, registering at least 5 in each game.  By comparison, the Cardinals opponents have totaled 5 tackles for loss the entire season.

College football coaches around the country, including CUA's Dave Dunn, will join to fight one opponent this weekend - Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  By wearing an armband with the Coach to Cure MD insignia, coaches will show their support for Coach to Cure MD, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) charitable project.  Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed during childhood.  Because the Duchenne gene is found on the X-chromosome, it primarily affects boys and occurs across all races and cultures.

Expect to see both teams put up plenty of points on Saturday afternoon. In the last 12 meetings, the average score between CUA and Hampden-Sydney has been 34-24 in favor of the Tigers.  During that time, both teams have scored at least 20 points in nine of the games.

Saturday's game is slated to begin at 1 p.m. from inside Cardinal Stadium.
