Albion QB is candidate for NFF Scholar-Athlete Awards

More news about: Albion

Albion College senior quarterback Spencer Krauss is one of 147 candidates for the National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Awards. The 147 nominees also comprise the list of semifinalists for the 2011 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation.

The Clinton High School product is the only candidate from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and is one of only 41 in all Division III. A member of Albion's Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management and an economics & management major, Krauss will graduate in December.

An all-MIAA second team pick in 2011, Krauss is serving as co-president of the MIAA's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He completed 33-of-50 passes for 423 yards and five touchdowns in the first two weeks of the 2012 season.

The NFF Awards Committee will select up to 16 recipients, and the results will be announced via a national press release on Thursday, October 25. Each recipient will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship, and they will vie as finalists for the 2012 William V. Campbell Trophy.
