NEWPORT, R.I. - Continuing his week full of honors, Salve Regina sophomore Phil Terio (Trumbull, Conn.) has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northeast Special Teams Player of the Week.
This comes after Terio earned the NEFC Special Teams Player of the Week award on Saturday, as well as NCAA Division III Special Teams Top Performer of the Week honors on Monday.
The sophomore defensive back and kick returner averaged 40.0 yards on three kick returns during the Seahawks' 37-33 victory versus Curry, highlighted by a 93-yard return for a score in the opening quarter.
Terio eventually sealed the win with an interception at his own seven yardline with just 15 seconds remaining in the game.
After being selected as the 2011 Defensive Rookie of the Year last season, Terio is following up with a terrific sophomore campaign, currently leading the Seahawks with six pass break ups, six interceptions, and six touchdowns on the season, setting the NCAA single season record with four interceptions returned for a touchdown in the process.
Terio and the Seahawks will face MIT this Friday at 7 p.m., putting their undefeated 7-0 record and their 13-game winning streak on the line.
