Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College Head Football Coach Jeff Ramsey announced on Friday the appointment of Jay Anderson as the team's new defensive coordinator.
 
Anderson is no stranger to the Yeomen football program as he previously worked on staff as the team's secondary coach during the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons. He spent this past season as the linebackers coach at nearby Notre Dame College.
 
In his last year with the Yeomen in 2011, Anderson helped the team rank second in the NCAC in total defense and rushing defense, and fifth in pass defense at just 192.1 yards allowed per game. During his tenure with Oberlin, Anderson mentored four All-NCAC defensive backs.
 
"I would like to thank Coach Ramsey for giving me this opportunity to return to Oberlin," Anderson said. "I have learned a lot from him over the years and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the staff once again."
 
Anderson replaces former Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Alan Estep who left to become the offensive coordinator at Marietta College. With his departure, Ramsey will focus more on the offensive side of the ball in 2013.
 
Anderson's coaching career began in 2005 at his alma mater of Oberlin High School, where he was a former standout on the gridiron. He went on to play at the University of Toledo where he was a four-year starter and a member of three Mid-American Conference Championship teams. He graduated from Toledo in 2003 with a degree in English.
 
Coach Ramsey also announced that Mike Law has been promoted to Offensive Line Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.
