Team of the Week

Presented by Scoutware

Games of Sept. 20-22, 2012

Offense
QB Rob Kalkstein, Jr., Carnegie Mellon
Kalkstein passed for a career-high 314 yards on 13-of-15 passing and tossed three touchdowns in a 51-28 win against DePauw, becoming the first Tartan to pass for 300 yards in a game since Sept. 18, 1993. He threw scoring passes of 83, 65 and 40 yards marking the fourth straight game he has a touchdown throw of more than 50 yards.

OL Jesse Battaglia (LT), Ty Pryor (LG), Taylor El-Ani (C), Conor Sharp (RG), Zack Palmer (RT), Allegheny
Allegheny's offensive front dominated the line of scrimmage in the Gators' stunning road upset at Wabash. Holding the ball for nearly 33 minutes, Allegheny hit the Little Giants for 176 yards rushing, even though Wabash entered the game averaging 28 yards against on the ground. The Gators surrendered zero sacks in 40 drop backs.

RB A.J. Scoppa, Jr., Montclair State
Scoppa averaged 8.2 yards per carry while helping Montclair State improve to 2-0 in conference with a 34-17 NJAC road win at William Paterson. He rushed 30 times for a career-high 247 yards, including touchdown runs of 1, 1, 15, and 31 yards apiece. His performance, which included more than 100 yards in the third quarter alone, represented the most rushing yards in a game by a Red Hawk since Eugene Vick's 249 yards against Kean in 2003.

RB Cartel Brooks, So., Heidelberg
Brooks ran for 227 yards and three touchdowns, including a 99-yarder, in Heidelberg's 56-2 crushing of Wilmington. He also returned a kickoff for 39 yards.

RB Chuck Beckwith, Jr., Alfred
Chuck Beckwith seemingly singlehandedly put Buffalo State away on Saturday, rushing for 177 yards on just eight carries, including touchdowns of 31, 52 and 80 yards in a span of 7:21 of Alfred's 40-17 win against Buffalo State.

WR Keith Caruso, Jr., Massachuetts Maritime
Caruso tied his own school record with 12 receptions and posted 195 yards in Buccaneers' 42-38 come-from-behind victory over Coast Guard. He hauled in an 18-yard TD reception and pair of two-point conversion passes as part of comeback from 28-9 third quarter deficit with three scores in 6:30 span.

WR Ryley Bailey, Jr., UW-Platteville
Bailey caught 11 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-19 win by No. 16 UW-Platteville over UW-Eau Claire in a non-conference game. Both catches and yardage were career highs for Bailey and marked the second time in 2012 that he has caught two touchdown passes in a game.

Defense
DE Alex Kemp, Fr., Mary Hardin-Baylor
Seeing his first significant action of his collegiate career, Kemp had five tackles, three and a half for loss and three sacks in the Cru's win against Trinity (Texas). He also forced a fumble that led to a UMHB touchdown.

DT D.J. Brigham, Sr., Defiance
Brigham picked up seven solo hits among his nine tackles in a 30-7 win against Anderson. He added two sacks and three and a half tackles for loss. 3.5 tackles for lost yardage and one quarterback hurry. The Jackets did not allow an offensive touchdown, while holding AU to 129 total yards of offense and eight first downs.

DT Daniel Wollman, Sr., Kean
Wollman was part of a defensive until that held Brockport to just six points in a 14-6 win after it entered the game averaging 34.3. He had 10 tackles, five solo, including a tackle for loss. Late in the third quarter, the Golden Eagle offense stalled just outside the red zone thanks to a sack by senior Jerelle Peay that led to a fumble, recovered by Wollman.

DE Max Nacewicz, So., Springfield
Nacewicz had a strong showing in the Pride's 44-14 win over Rochester. In Springfield's Liberty League debut, he posted six tackles, including 4.5 for a loss of 22 yards. He finished the afternoon with three sacks.

LB Grant DePalma, So., Rose-Hulman
DePalma had 20 tackles, including an incredible 18 solo stops, in a 28-26 win against Manchester. He had six tackles for loss and four sacks.

LB Dylan Ditmer, Jr., Widener
Ditmer paced the defense in a 90-0 shutout of Wilkes with 12 tackles, nine solos, two tackles for a loss, a sack and a forced fumble. The defense snuffed all four of Wilkes' fourth-down attempts to go with forcing seven punts and four turnovers.

CB Kevin Stanton, So., Massachusetts Maritime
Stanton registered career-high in tackles (14) and recorded first career interception on own 8-yard line in closing minutes of 42-38 come-from-behind victory over Coast Guard. He had a key stop on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line on opening series after team fumbled away opening kickoff on own 5.

S Jack McCarty, Sr., Susquehanna
McCarty had nine tackles (six solo) and picked off three passes in a 35-24 loss to Gettysburg. He also recovered a fumble.

S Joe Diani, Jr., Grove City
Diani intercepted two passes and forced a fumble in Grove City's come-from-behind victory against Bethany. All three takeaways led directly to Grove City touchdowns. His second interception of the game came midway through the fourth quarter, setting up the eventual go-ahead touchdown. He also had six tackles.

S Vince Brautigam, Sr., Cornell
Brautigam set a school record with his 15 solo tackles, among 19 total stops in a 31-28 loss to defending Midwest Conference champion Monmouth.

CB Leonard Gleaves, Jr., Ohio Wesleyan
Gleaves recorded a season-high 11 tackles, six solo, in 17-14 win over Case. He recovered a fumble inside the OWU 1-yard line in the closing seconds of the first half to deny a CWRU scoring threat and protect a 14-7 lead, then intercepted a pass in OWU territory to turn aside another Spartan threat.

Special teams
K Allen Cain, Sr., Texas Lutheran
Cain tied his own American Southwest Conference record for field goals in a game with five. On Saturday he connected from 41, 29, 48, 50 and 30, and he was 4-for-4 on PATs in a 43-35 win against Southwestern Assemblies of God.

P Cory Gay, Sr., Shenandoah
Gay completed a 32-yard pass for a first down on a fake and also averaged 39.2 yards on nine actual punts. Four of them were fair caught.

RET Erik Tobey, Sr., Millikin
Tobey returned a punt 92 yards for a touchdown as Millikin defeated Aurora 44-20.
