No. 9 Coe held No. 7 Central scoreless in the second half and rallied past the visiting Dutch 37-28 in a battle of unbeatens in the Iowa Conference. No. 6 Wittenberg was on the ropes into the fourth quarter in its first real test of the season, trailing 14-10 at Allegheny. The Tigers scored touchdowns on back-to-back possessions before hanging on for the tough conference win.

In the day's other Top 10 battle, Darius Wilson ran for 190 yards and quarterback LiDarral Bailey added 138 more and two touchdowns as No. 5 Mary Hardin-Baylor defeated No. 8 Hardin-Simmons 42-28.

No. 11 North Central got three sacks from Willie Hayes and two plus a forced fumble from Valente Garza to defeat No. 17 UW-Eau Claire 20-6. The win helped the CCIW finish its non-conference schedule 22-2, with the only losses by Augustana to Central and by North Park to Aurora.

No. 12 Thomas More beat its main PAC rival for the third year in a row, defeating Washington and Jefferson 29-21 after the Presidents had led 21-17 at the half. No. 2 Mount Union and No. 10 Ohio Northern won by a combined 87-0, setting up next week's showdown. No. 4 St. Thomas had no trouble with Concordia-Moorhead, crushing the Cobbers 56-7. No. 18 St. John's beat Augsburg 48-10. Photo gallery

Sophomore tailback Chris Lopez scored on a 5-yard run with 38 seconds left to snap a 28-28 tie and lift No. 23 Alfred to a 35-28 win at Springfield. No. 25 Randolph-Macon sprinted to 45 points in the first half and coasted to a 48-14 win against Frostburg State. The Yellow Jackets are 4-0 for the first time since 1986. After a slow start to the season -- one loss and zero wins in three weeks -- No. 16 Linfield finally got into the W column for the first time in 2010, beating La Verne 30-3.
