November 12, 2016 #21/22 Hobart clinches NCAA playoff berth GENEVA, N.Y.—The nationally ranked Hobart College football team produced a season-high 544 yards of offense in a 56-27 win over the University of Rochester that clinched a share of the Liberty League Championship and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs. Junior quarterback Shane Sweeney threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Brandon Shed pulled in five passes for a game-high 132 yards and two touchdowns.

October 22, 2016 Another late comeback gives Hobart 500th win GENEVA, N.Y.—For the fourth time this season, the No. 24 Hobart College football team rallied from a fourth quarter deficit and pull out a victory, the program's 500th all-time win. Junior quarterback Shane Sweeney threw an 18-yard TD pass to junior wide receiver Brandon Shed with 1:47 remaining for the game-winning score against Springfield College. With the 12-7 victory, Hobart improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Liberty League. The loss drops Springfield to 4-4, 3-2. The 19 combined points are the fewest in a Hobart game since the Statesmen defeated Rensselaer 10-0 in 2009.
