January 3, 2017 2016 Summary: Bulldog Football Converts Opportunities into Championship Campaign With precision, tenacity, and unwavering belief, the University of Redlands football team orchestrated a season to remember in 2016, as highlighted by an 8-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition for the program's 30th overall title. In addition, the Bulldogs finished the year among the best in the nation with a final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) ranking of No. 25 while also landing in the NCAA's top 30 for multiple statistical categories. Finally, Redlands collected multiple awards, including the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year in junior linebacker Mitch Shepherd (Seattle, WA).

November 29, 2016 Defensive Athlete of the Year Mitch Shepherd Headlines Sensational Seven among Bulldog Football's All-SCIAC Awards It was announced last week that seven members of the University of Redlands football team landed on the 2016 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Teams for their contributions during the Bulldogs' undefeated run to the program's 30th conference championship. Headlining the honorees, junior linebacker Mitch Shepherd (Seattle, WA) was named the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year while also landing on the First Team. In addition, junior defensive lineman Tristan Corwin (Wildomar, CA), senior defensive back Connor Hoffman (Tustin, CA), and junior offensive lineman Matt Schallert (Canyon Lake, CA) joined him on the First Team. In the teams' fifth meeting, the Bulldogs put together their best showing en route to a 21-14 halftime lead, before the Cru rallied to take this one by a score of 50-28.
November 12, 2016 Bulldog Football Keeps Smudge Pot in 34-30 Win over Cal Lutheran for Undefeated SCIAC Championship The University of Redlands football team capped off an impressive regular season with its seventh win in a row to capture sole possession of the 2016 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship with Saturday's 34-30 victory over the visiting Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen. In the fifth-annual Smudge Pot showdown, the Bulldogs maintained the trophy for the fourth-consecutive year, giving their seniors an undefeated run against the rival from Thousand Oaks.
